Our butyl rubber gaskets are seals made from butyl rubber, a synthetic elastomer known for its excellent impermeability to gases and liquids.  Additionally, butyl gaskets offer impressive tear resistance and shock absorption properties, making them ideal for demanding sealing applications involving gases and compressed air.


What are the advantages of butyl rubber?

• Impermeability: Butyl rubber has low gas and moisture permeability, making it an ideal choice for applications requiring a high level of sealing against air, water, and other fluids. However, they aren't suitable to use with oils and petrol.
• Chemical resistance: Butyl rubber exhibits good resistance to a wide range of chemicals, including acids, alkalis, and some solvents. The material's chemical resistance, low permeability, and inertness make butyl rubber gaskets suitable for use as seals and stoppers.
• Weather resistance: Butyl rubber gaskets have excellent resistance to ozone, sunlight, and weathering, making them suitable for outdoor applications. They can withstand prolonged exposure to UV radiation and extreme temperatures without significant degradation.
• Flexibility and compression set resistance: Butyl rubber is highly flexible and maintains its elasticity over a wide temperature range. It also has good compression set resistance, meaning it can maintain its shape and sealing properties even after being compressed for extended periods. Can be pre-manufactured in a range of thicknesses ready for conversion into gaskets, washers, Rings, Seals, and other products.
